Last Week's Top Funding Rounds
Health Care, Automotive and Oil & Gas, not just biotech...
By Taylor Pierce - Monday, March 25
Weekly Money Moves: Last week saw capital flow into a broader range of industries with more activity from non-biotech names, including Automotive, Health Care, and Consumer Goods.
Do you expect this trend to continue? Let’s dig in below.

Biotech companies led the pack by once again securing 52% of the total $2.02 billion raised, amounting to $1.04 billion. This substantial investment underscores the ongoing interest and confidence in biotech's potential for innovation and its crucial role in advancing healthcare solutions. With such substantial funding, these companies are well-positioned to intensify their research and development efforts, potentially leading to significant advancements in addressing healthcare challenges on a global scale.
In addition to biotech, healthcare emerged as another significant recipient of investment, securing 17% of the total funds raised, totaling $337 million. Meanwhile, the oil, gas, and energy sectors followed suit, with Atlas Energy leading the charge by raising 9% of the total, equivalent to $175 million. Noteworthy contributions also came from sectors like automotive, highlighted by Fisker's $150 million raise, and consumer goods, with Jo-Ann Stores securing $132 million in funding.
